Abstract
Diagnostic criteria for multiple sclerosis have evolved enormously since they were first established by Poser in 1983. They nevertheless remain based on temporal and spatial dissemination of the diseases, initially defined clinically (two flare-ups and to anatomic sites), confirming the chronic nature of the inflammatory disease and differentiating it from clinically isolated syndromes.
