Abstract
In the ageing population, gait disorders and postural instability with falls represent a major health problem, leading to altered quality of life and increased mortality. Gait disorders are a clinical hallmark of many neurological conditions. In most cases, a precise clinical neurological exam leads to a syndromic diagnosis and an etiological orientation. In routine practice, specific clinical scales and neurophysiological recordings of gait are not very useful. We present in this article the phenomenology of gait disorders in various neurological syndromes and their classification.
