Abstract
Stroke is a common and serious public health priority. The care of patients at the acute phase is part of a multidisciplinary sector with fast access and formalized in a specialized Stroke Unit with a 24/24Â technical platform with brain and vascular imaging. Since 2015, a new treatment paradigm is imposed on all actors with the scientific validation of the effectiveness of mechanical thrombectomy in stroke by proximal occlusion of large vascular trunks. This activity is performed by interventional neuroradiology centers submitted to the SIOS and implementation decrees of 2007. If operating fundamentals remain unchanged, the inclusion of mechanical thrombectomy as the vascular recanalization reference method requires an adjustment of the regional organization to select and forward patients as quickly as possible to the regional reference stroke unit with an interventional neuroradiology department.
