Abstract
A bisphosphonate-derived shift of macrophage polarization towards M1-polarized macrophages might impair bone tissue homeostasis and thus contribute to the pathogenesis of BRONJ. The observed increase in osteoclast density might be caused by BP-induced prolonged osteoclast survival.
