Abstract
- Vagus nerve stimulator (VNS)-associated adverse effects, including dysphagia, and worsening of sleep-disordered breathing are well documented.
- VNS activation may lead to resolution of snoring during nonrapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, vis-a-vis rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
- VNS activation is well visualized on polysomnography (PSG) using active and reference surface electromyography (EMG) electrodes over the left lower neck at the site of VNS lead running from the chest-implanted stimulator to the left vagus nerve.
