Abstract
Bupropion is a commonly prescribed antidepressant and smoking cessation agent indicated for use in adults. Pediatric bupropion exposures reported to US poison control centers have increased in recent years. Both intentional and unintentional bupropion overdose can result in life-threatening toxicity. Bupropion toxicity is characterized by agitation, hallucinations, tachycardia, and delayed-onset seizures. This article reviews bupropion's pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, clinical manifestations, and management of toxicity.
