Abstract
An increase in the prevalence of excess body weight and cardiometabolic complications, possibly secondary to a low adherence to healthy lifestyle habits, was observed in type 1 diabetic patients, which could increase their cardiovascular risk. While the nutritional quality of those patients is suboptimal, nutritional recommendations are focused on carbohydrate counting. Studies are necessary to establish recommendations to improve the nutritional quality and weight management of those patients.
