Optimisation du contrôle glycémique chez les patients diabétiques de type 1 par Mesure Continue du Glucose (MCG) et arrêt prédictif de la pompe : résultats de l'étude OMEGA

The SmartGuard™ system, implanted in the MiniMed 640G insulin pump, is a predictive low glucose management algorithm, which is able to suspend insulin delivery in advance of predicted hypoglycemia. We assessed its effectiveness on 21 type 1 diabetic patients, with glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels evolution and hypoglycemia incidence. After 6 months, we found significant reduction of symptomatic hypoglycemia (P =0.001), without any episode of severe hypoglycemia and no significant evolution of the HbA1c level (-0.1 ± 0.7%; P =0.35).
