Abstract
The authors present a review of the new technologies available or angrily awaited to better manage blood glucose in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes, particularly continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and real-time CGM. Based on their pediatric experience, a particular emphasis is placed on practical recommendations, and the needs for trained caregivers to provide optimized therapeutic education and proper advices to children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes and their parents. Beyond insulin pump and real-time CGM, artificial pancreas is the ultimate goal in view of an optimal blood glucose control with minimization of hypo- and hyperglycemia episodes, toward a better quality of life.
