Abstract
The experience of losing a spouse can lead to considerable comorbidity for the widowed elderly, hence the interest of exploring how Lifespan Integration (LI) therapy can reduce suffering and the feeling of loss by establishing a new balance between past and present. We will start by reviewing the existing literature on the loss of a spouse for the elderly, and focus on the physical and psychological consequences. Then, using a clinical case, we will pinpoint the pivotal elements of LI contributing to the therapy, among which is the impact of looping applied to the patient's timeline.
