Abstract
The quick-SOFA scale facilitates the early identification of patients with sepsis and rapid treatment initiation. The presence of severe pain, bullae, tissue gas or tension edema in patients with skin and subcutaneous tissue infection are suggestive of necrotizing infection. Urgent debridement is a key element of treatment. The PSI and CURB-65 scales allow predicting the prognosis of community-acquired pneumonia and are useful for deciding whether to enter the hospital. The recommended antimicrobial treatment in urinary tract infections depends on the location of the infection and the structural involvement of the urinary tract. The antimicrobial regimen in intra-abdominal infections should be based on the existence of factors of poor prognosis and/or infection by resistant bacteria.
