Abstract
Angina is a poor marker of mycoardial ischaemia, silent ischaemia is the most frequent manifestation of heart disease. In its most common form, type III, it coexists with angina of any type. Its diagnosis requires confirmation of myocardial ischaemia, usually by exercise stress test or Holter monitoring, in the absence of chest pain. The aim should be to treat the ischaemia, not just the angina.
