During and in the immediate follow-up of an ACS, referral to an endocrinologist/diabetologist is recommended in case of diagnosis of diabetes, when HbA1c ≥ 8%, when long-term treatment with insulin has been initiated and in case of frequent or severe hypoglycemias.
