Abstract
Vaccines have proven to be an excellent strategy to reduce morbidity and mortality in respiratory infections, with an adequate safety profile. Our national immunization programe incorporates several of them, achieving high impact results in public health. To keep this goal, is required our compromise and knowledge to stimulate, disseminate and obtain high coverage rates to achieve herd immunity effects. On the other hand, epidemiological surveillance of vaccine agents must be maintained to know their temporary changes in agents, serogroups, sero and/or genotypes, in order to establish appropriate guidelines of age and vaccination schemes for the population. We must move forward on these issues and perform studies of vaccines effectiveness, to put in evidence their contribution in the prevention of respiratory infections, so highlight their benefits, knowing the impact on populations at risk and advance in the vaccination of pregnant women, to provide better prevention strategies to our population.
