Abstract
There are many different surgical techniques used to treat massive rotator cuff tears. Young patients with massive cuff tears who retain range of motion and active lifestyles generally do not want reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. We aim to present a relatively new method, the superior capsular reconstruction, for treating contained rotator cuff tears. We discuss the surgical method and early outcomes. The outcomes for this procedure are encouraging; patients gain forward flexion and internal rotation motion far exceeding the range of motion most reverse arthroplasty patients achieve.
