Abstract
Transcanal endoscopic ear surgery is evolving as a treatment modality for temporal bone pathologies. Conductive hearing loss and mixed hearing loss are most commonly caused by disruptions of the ossicular chain or tympanic membrane. Preoperative evaluation with otomicroscopy, audiometry, and, in some cases, imaging are important in the assessment of conductive or mixed hearing loss. Transcanal endoscopic ear surgery is a novel means of assessing and addressing ossicular chain pathology.
