Abstract
Lung cancer is a complex disease related to both environmental and genetic factors and involving various oncogenic pathways. Several preneoplastic entities are described for the different histological subtypes of lung cancer. This paper summarizes available data about histological modifications defining those preneoplastic and/or pre-invasive lesions as well as molecular abnormalities involved in lung carcinogenesis at pre-invasive and invasive stages.
