Abstract
In France, more than half of the patients diagnosed with lung cancer are aged 65 or more and 30 % are aged more than 70 years but specific recommendations about their management regarding as well surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are scant. Several patient characteristics, as comorbidities, age-related physiological variations of the main body functions, or polypharmacy, are predictive of survival and must be considered for therapeutic decision. The Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) is a good tool (although time consuming) to evaluate elderly with lung cancer and to identify fit patients who are more likely to benefit from standard treatment from frail ones who are candidates for supportive care.
