Abstract
Finding a physician to serve the occupational medicine needs of a business often follows one of a several well worn paths. Many businesses hire a physician recommended by a business associate or recommended by their personal physician or perhaps by hiring a “doc” they know socially. Although these methodologies are often: “quick and easy” they do not always yield ideal long term results. This article presents a more systematic approach that we believe results in a better business “fit” and longer term successful relationship between an occupational medicine physician and a business. What follows is an outline of a process that facilitates in evaluating, recruiting and orienting the ideal occupational medicine physician.
