Abstract
Biological monitoring of toxic elements and organometallics can be useful for public health policy makers and researchers and can add to our understanding of inorganic toxicology. The development of this important sub discipline is presented along with examples of biomonitoring that have been critical to our understanding and application in this field of study. Trends, including determination of specific inorganic and organometallic species, and anticipated future directions are also presented.
