Abstract
► Spatiotemporal trends occur in arsenic contents of shallow groundwater in West Bengal. ► We simulate pumping to record changes in the distribution of dissolved arsenic. ► Pumping induces enduring effects on hydrochemically stratified water columns. ► Arsenic-safe water resources are vulnerable toward anthropogenic disturbances.
