Abstract
- A novel P. saccharolyticum strain LY10 was isolated from Cr contaminated soil.
- The alkaliphilic and halotolerant versatilities of the strain were characterized.
- Strain LY10 could accumulate Cr both extracellularly and intracellularly.
- XANES confirmed that the chromium immobilized by the cells was in the Cr(III) state.
- P. saccharolyticum was for the first time reported as the Cr(VI) reducing bacteria.
