Abstract
⺠We performed a method to select microbes for zearalenone degradation. ⺠An estrogen screen test was adapted to biodegradation tests. ⺠The most appropriate microbe with the weakest harmful biological effects was selected. ⺠We highlighted the necessity to employ bio-tests in biodegradation assays.
