Abstract
⺠Ammonium retention onto CLF occurred for a wide pH and temperature ranges. ⺠Chemisorption and pore diffusion are characteristics of this sorption system. ⺠Cracks on CLF surface may allow the pore diffusion and the ion exchange process. ⺠Ionic exchange by calcium ions and the complexation are main mechanisms involved. ⺠CLF laden with ammonium could be used as organic fertilizer in arid regions.
