Abstract
► A conceptual in-situ mineral carbonation method using a coal ash pond is proposed. ► CO2 uptake occurred by carbonation reaction of CO2 with Ca2+ ions from coal fly ash. ► The CO2 sequestration capacity was affected by the solid dosage. ► Seawater can be used as a solvent for mineral carbonation of coal fly ash.
