Abstract
► I-DBPs can be produced when iodide-containing waters are in contact with potassium permanganate. ► HOI, I2 and I3− are responsible for the I-DBPs formation during oxidation by potassium permanganate. ► High concentrations of I-DBPs were generated with the maximum yield at circumneutral pH. ► Molar ratio of I−/KMnO4 showed significant influence on the formation of DBPs.
