Abstract
► A safe and economic disposal technology for toxic metals from mixed batteries waste. ► Performance of regenerated LiNi1/3Co1/3Mn1/3O2 was comparable to that of commercial electrodes. ► The Li[(Ni1/3Co1/3Mn1/3)1−xMgx]O2 showed an enhanced cyclability within x ≤ 0.01. ► A tolerable removal level of Mg2+ was achieved without F− pollution caused by conventional NaF method. ► The recycling process exhibits extensive and promising application for battery waste.
