Abstract
⺠This study looks at the oxidative breakdown of the amine containing dye acid yellow 36 by a Mn oxide containing mine waste. ⺠The oxidation proceeds by successive one electron transfers between the dye molecule and the Mn oxide minerals. ⺠The initial decolorization of the dye is rapid, but does not involve the cleavage of the azo bond.
