Abstract
► Plant growth and development was enhanced in the presence of inoculated bacterial strain Bacillus pumilus. ► B. pumilus reduced the translocation of chlorpyrifos into shoots and roots of ryegrass. ► B. pumilus efficiently degraded chlorpyrifos and its primary metabolite trichloropyridinol. ► Plant-bacteria partnership has great potential for the remediation of soil contaminated with chlorpyrifos.
