Abstract
⺠Bio-oils were produced from bench-scale slow-pyrolysis of three biomass samples ⺠Experimental protocols were developed and applied to screen the composition of the bio-oils ⺠Phenols, furans, polyaromatic hydrocarbons and other hazardous compounds were detected ⺠Bio-oils resulted in relevant chronic and acute toxicity ⺠A marginal carcinogenic potential can be due to the presence of carcinogenic compounds.
