Abstract
► Methanol increased n-hexane bioavailability and hence its removal efficiency. ► At higher loading rates n-hexane degradation depended on methanol loading rates. ► Treating n-hexane and methanol was accompanied by high nitrogen consumption. ► Biomass control strategy is dependent on the nature and the loading rates of VOCs.
