Abstract
⺠We investigate the cytotoxicity of pristine and functionalized MWCNTs. ⺠Pristine MWCNTs show considerable amount of cell killing effect. ⺠Functionalized MWCNTs induce serious inflammatory responses. ⺠Physicochemical properties of the MWCNTs are the key factors in the toxicity of MWCNTs. ⺠Pro-inflammatory potential of functionalized MWCNTs necessitates improvement.
