Abstract
⺠Vermiculite can effectively remove and stabilize Cr(VI) from fine ferrochrome dust leachate. ⺠Optimum conditions for Cr(VI) removal are at pH 1.5, contact time of 2 h and adsorbent dose of 10 g Lâ1. ⺠No additional Cr(VI) leached from the treated ferrochrome dust over a 12 month period. ⺠The Cr(VI)-loaded vermiculite remained stable after 12 months, when evaluated with the ASTM and TCLP Cr(VI) leach methods. ⺠Cr(VI) desorption from the Cr(VI)-loaded vermiculite occurred when the Acid Rain Test was used.
