Abstract
⺠Metal desorption was over 90% complete within 50 min for most desorbents. ⺠Models for biosorbent desorption kinetics were developed. ⺠Desorption kinetics best fit a novel first-order model related to remaining metal bound. ⺠Cd uptake after desorption by HNO3 was similar to the original uptake. ⺠The optimal desorbent was 0.1 or 0.01 M acid, being fast, efficient and cheap.
