Abstract
⺠Birch: lowest metal concentrations in foliage, wood and bark. ⺠Bark proportion does not have to decline with increasing age of tree. ⺠Long harvest rotation (>25 y) reduces metal concentrations in stem. ⺠Birch: most suitable tree for BCL.
