Abstract
► The decontamination of chars obtained in the co-pyrolysis of wastes was studied. ► A bioassay-directed fractionation procedure was applied to the chars. ► Hexane allowed the higher extraction yield and removal of toxic organic pollutants. ► The compounds removed are mainly aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons.
