Abstract
► Waste washing pre-treatment of municipal and special solid waste. ► Treatment focused on controlling waste leachable fraction and related impacts. ► Results revealed a reduction of leachable fraction of contaminants. ► Removal rates exceed 65% for DOC, COD and TKN and 60% for anions and metals. ► Aerobic/anaerobic column test was performed to simulate waste behaviour in landfill.
