Abstract
⺠An in situ reduction method was developed to enhance the removal efficiency of graphene oxide (GO). ⺠Carbonyl groups on GO were in situ converted into hydroxyl groups. ⺠Strong hydrogen-bonding interaction was newly introduced which had largely enhanced the removal efficiency for acridine orange by GO.
