Abstract
⺠A highly bromate resistant bacterial community was isolated. ⺠It presents high ability for bromate removal. ⺠It was identified and it was concluded that was affected by the presence of sulphate. ⺠Clostridium/Citrobacter reported for the first time as having bromate removal ability. ⺠Enzymatic reduction of bromate and/or removal by extracellular metabolic products.
