Abstract
⺠Viral populations support a huge diversity and a complex organization. ⺠A general theory of the genotype-phenotype-fitness map is lacking. ⺠The applicability of models of viral evolution is limited by their assumptions. ⺠New technologies will clarify the structure of viral quasispecies. ⺠Adaptive strategies of viruses determine their response to therapies.
