Abstract

The practice of integrative medicine has raised new questions for medical ethicists and providers of care. These questions are complicated by the particular ethical considerations in the care of children and adolescents. Several authors have provided guidelines for the use of complimentary and alternative therapies in pediatric care. In this manuscript, typical case scenarios from the author's clinical experience provide a springboard for the expansion and modification of these guidelines. The implications for provision of optimal compassionate pediatric care are discussed.
