Abstract
⺠Amphetamine was infused into the nucleus accumbens shell, core and lateral habenula of self-stimulating rats. ⺠We measured changes in rewarding effectiveness and operant responding. ⺠Rewarding effectiveness was preferentially sensitive to shell infusions. ⺠Operant responding was preferentially sensitive to core infusions. ⺠Lateral habenula infusions did not alter either variable.
