Abstract
⺠Working memory load-related brain activity differed in placebo and caffeine conditions. ⺠Caffeine increased encoding activity in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. ⺠Caffeine decreased maintenance activity in the left thalamus. ⺠Caffeine appeared detrimental at high levels of WM load, rather than enhancing.
