Abstract
► Exposure to EE during periods of withdrawal reduces incubation of cocaine craving. ► Both early and late exposure to EE are effective in reducing cocaine seeking. ► The effects of EE only last as long as EE is maintained but then are quickly lost. ► EE acts as a brake on drug-seeking but it does not erase drug-related memories. ► Only continuous EE may be effective in reducing the risks of relapse.
