Abstract
⺠Nicotine demonstrated pronounced behavioural sensitisation to its stimulant actions. ⺠The 5-HT6 receptor antagonist SB-271046 reduced the development and expression of nicotine sensitisation. ⺠These data suggest the utility of 5-HT6 receptor antagonists for reducing the effects of nicotine. ⺠Together, these data suggest that more detailed studies with 5-HT6 antagonists to reduce addiction are warrented.
