Abstract
Despite a rapid increase in the number of drugs available to treat hyperglycemia there remain several unmet needs in the prevention and treatment of diabetes. There have also been tremendous advances in our understanding of the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes, allowing the recognition of novel treatment targets. The purpose of this review is to highlight some of the novel approaches that are being developed to improve glucose control in patients with diabetes.
