Abstract
⺠Cigarette smoke causes oxidative stress in COPD. ⺠Antioxidants can modulate intracellular redox system. ⺠Thiols, enzyme mimetics, spin traps, and redox sensors are therapeutic agents. ⺠Lipid peroxidation and protein carbonylation inhibitors block oxidative processes. ⺠Antioxidants have pharmacological beneficial effects in management of COPD.
