Abstract
⺠Dietary and plasma cholesterol levels are weakly associated with CRC development. ⺠Statin use is associated with a 10% reduction in all (unselected) CRC. ⺠Haplotypes of CYP7A1 (enzyme in bile acid production) are associated with CRC. ⺠Haplotypes of HMGCoA reductase influence CRC chemoprevention by Statins. ⺠Molecular features of CRC (SMAD4, KRAS) may predict sensitivity to Statins.
