Abstract
⺠Paeoniflorin is the major active constituent of the extract of Radix Paeoniae. ⺠Paeoniflorin is able to diminish pain, synovitis, and joint destruction in arthritis. ⺠Paeoniflorin suppresses the production of inflammatory mediators. ⺠Paeoniflorin inhibits the proliferation of lymphocytes and synovial fibroblasts. ⺠Paeoniflorin inhibits neovascularization, and matrix metalloproteinases production.
