Abstract
⺠We determined bone mineral density and markers of bone metabolism in patients with MDD and without somatic comorbidities. ⺠We found low bone mineral density in just one out of 50 patients. ⺠High levels of physical activity served as protective factor. ⺠We found high osteoprotegerin levels in our sample. ⺠The protective effect of osteoprotegerin could be the reason for normal bone mineral density.
